The following article attempts to provide a precise terminological and definitional perspective of simultaneous booth interpreting. Firstly, one should establish a negative (excluding) definition of the aforementioned form of translation by confronting it with the existing ones (from intralingual and intersemiotic interpreting to written translation and different varieties of oral interpreting). Presented in the article, the definition constitutes a list of detailed distinctive features of simultaneous booth interpreting, such as simultaneousness and specificity of the involved cognitive processes, the isolation of simultaneous interpreter and his/her dependence on an target text presenter, properties of target texts.
